RE: Please help clarify Flowmaster break-in. sound sucks now!
I had the GT take-off ( single ) put on my car. I have both the mufflers and wanted them both put on but the muffler guy talked me out of it. I like the sound of it while accelerating. (spelled right ? )
It has a nice rumble sound. I think it is too quiet at idle. It's way better then what we have stock. I know it won't change the sound to put the other muffler on, but it does look better.

theresa,
why did the muffler guy talk you out of it?
He told me that the V6's were meant to have single exhaust because that's what they were made with.
Something about back pressure.... Something about having to weld the drivers side muffler on and what it will do the the engine. I don't know, I wasn't interested in excuses, I think it was because it was Saturday and he didn't want to do it.

haha.....yeah, i think that was the real reason. the backpressure issue was brought up a lot last year and it seems that it hasn't had any negative results on the dynos. even if there's a minor loss in power, the look and sound is worth it.

V-6's will be hard pressed to sound like a v-8. I have heard some that sound pretty good, but theyre far and few between.
Icon is right about the "break in". There is NO break in period with flowmasters as there is NO deadening material inside of them to burn away. And from my experience, as the material burns away they get LOUDER not quieter.
Maybe if you guy put a cam in your motor it would at least have some rumble to it.

Dude i have no idea. all i know is the piping is 2 1/4. straight pipes, over the axle and into the flows. They are deep as hell but not loud enough as far as rumble. i have the H-Pipe in the middle. I'm thinking i should have went with original 40's and the h pipe or the super 40's and no h pipe. Can anybody explain to me exactly what is "DRONE?" My mufflers produce so much bass its deafining

I thank you guys so much for your responses but I am still confused on what to do but thats my problem.
On my 2004, before it got flooded by Katrina, I had the original 40's and they were real low sounding but after 3 months, they sounded real KICKASS! and thats what i wanted but i wanted it deeper(hince the H-pipe). I am aware that i will never sound like a V-8, but after the headers, highflo cats and somemore original 40's, I hope to be damn close. Again, thank you guys for your help. Can anybody tell me what CAI i should use? Thats my next purchase and how much are cams?

Cats REALLY quiet down flows. I couldnt believe the difference when I went from the factory 4 cat h-pipe to an offroad H. With the cats it had the sound, but wasnt really all that loud. With the offroad H, its so loud I literally have to yell at my passengers in order for them to hear me.
