Default Passenger Airbag Off Light?

Every once in awhile, especially with passengers with less mass, my airbag light comes on. Anyone else having this problem? I'm going to go get it checked out this week. Doesn't seem safe to me...

It is designed to do that.

It is working correctly.

For light passengers, the airbag turns OFF to prevent injury to small children, or unneeded deployment (grocery bags).

Well sometimes it does it with no one in the seat, but usually stays off. And by light passenger, I mean like anything less then 170 pounds.

Its normal. Read your owners manual before posting odd questions. [:@]

The weight limit is 40-60 pounds if I remember the manual correctly.

Over 150 it definitely should not be on.

Get it checked out, especially if it toggles on and off when the same passenger is sitting there.

The lightshould always be off when the seat is empty.

170 seems to high to be the cutoff, I believe it it is much closer to 100. In mine, with my 95lb son in the passenger seat, the light can be on or off depending on how he is sitting in the seat.

I have this problem to Banka87.

My wife is 120lbs so if she shifts around in the seat the light will go on and off some. I suspect this good old american car expects a good old american (fat) ***.

Let us know what you find out, I will look at the manual again tonight as well.
