Default Questions about using a tuner

Greetings! I'm a self-confessed newbie with a 2006 Mustang V6 and I'm looking for some advice on theSCT XCalibrator 2. Having never used anything like this before, I was wondering if someone experienced could tell me how this thing works as far as what user input is required once you have it connected. Is it really as simple as it seems in the descriptions?

I know...I probably shouldn't be allowed near one at this point, but I want to understand this thing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
