I have never seen pins up close....can you slip surgical tubing over the wires?......not sure how it might look?

My functional hood pins have a plastic coating over the wires to prevent scratching, not sure if you could slip a plastic tubing over the wires though

Assume you are referring to the CDC appearance pins. I have had mine on for over a year, no scratching....The lanyards are rubber coated on the CDC pins as well......

No scratching here! Mine have been on through about 5,000 wonderful miles including a trip to FL and back! Mine are mounted the way they are supposed to be and the "pins" have some wear, but they are supposed to look like real ones, so I use them like real ones. I am only under my hood when I wash ( every weekend) and to check or change oil.
