ORIGINAL: illegalstealth

Can anyone help me out here I am really unsatisfiedmy car. I found a bunch of TSB's that match what I might have.

My engine is rattling / clanking at 12k miles. The inside of my car is vibrating. My 6 month old foglamps from the GT bumper andfasciaare not turning on anymore. Checked the fuse, it has a valence only to run with th GT cpu iI believe and I don't know what to do. I believe it is fuse #30, replaced the fuse still not working.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

LIMITED SLIP AXLE CHATTER, SHUDDER, BINDING SENSATION, OR VIBRATION DURING LOW SPEED
MANUEVERS (SUPERCEDES 04-17-5)
The 4.0 doesn't come with limited slip.

Have the dealer check it out if your axle is really making noise.

Thank you,

Hi Paul,

Clean out the cupholders of loose change. Makes a racket in mine, sounds like it comes from the radio area, but it doesn't.

The rattle has something to do with a loose bracket. Nothing serious.

Get an aftermarket exhaust/muffler.

You will still have the radio/console vibration if you go with a loud muffler, but who cares.

As for the GT light conversion, that's not Ford's fault. Start at the lights and work backward towards the switch. Check for broken/stripped wires/shorts, then test the lights themselves separately to see if the filaments are damaged.

Good luck, and nice cars!

You got me confused with the "valence only to run with th GT cpu" part.

A valance is a body panel.

As far as I know, lights are not controlled by a CPU on any mustang.

What noise exactly do you have from your axle?

I know in the contsruction business we use the term "Valance" to determing the spacing between an object. You might want to pop open your hood and have someone rev your engine or help you jolt the car around a bit to see if you can pin point a problem area. (Make sure your key is in the ignition and switched to on otherwise alarm will sound {happens when i change my tires}). Whenever i had my top down id get a crazy annoying squeak/rattle and it sounded like it came from my mirrors or center console. After shaking parts of the car i realized the brackets and cross connectors on the top of the vinyl hood were squeaking.

Just trial and error, and you should be fine. as for you fogs, try SOHC's response. or buy a meter and check power on all ends. (Fog housing, fuse locations, even check if your grounding wire is right)
Good Luck man... if all else fails you still got a Ford GT to drive around.

Im going to bring the car first to my dads friend to try and replace the bulbs and check the wires. Then I will be peaceful on my first visit to my dealer and if I can't duplicate the problem at the stealership I will start to complain.

I tried changing the fuse, but on the v6 I believe we don't have the right valence for the gt floglamps hmm.

Thank you

I know you dont have much experience but you need to get your vocabulary straight before you go to the dealer, that way you can actually help them work toward a fix. Valence in vehicles is usually a term used for body panels, like front and rear fascia. Your light problem could be a bad ground. And you should really let a mechanic check it out becuase you will spend money needlessly on bulbs and fuses and wires when a mechanic could test these parts b4 just replacing them when its not needed. You should be able to do a visual on fuses and see if theyre burnt up or not. Fogs dont have anything to do with CPU so its between your switch and lights.
