Default GT H-pipe and Cats

Can I use a take off GT H pipe with the catalytic converters as a direct replacement to put duals on my 2005 mustang V6 without any problems? Are the catalytic converters the same on the GT and V6? There is a guy selling his GT H-pipe with cats for $99 and I figured it would be easier for the exhaust shop instead of them making a H-pipe. Anybody know anything about this?

I cant just replace my V6 pipe and cats with the GT pipes and cats? Or do I HAVE to weld the H from the GT pipe to my V6 pipe after the cats?

im pretty sure you need to put the h pipe after your cats. im guessing gt cats are bigger so it wouldnt fit, but i could be wrong.

If ur going duals and not buying a whole system u need h or x pipe(GT take-off is fine), over axel pipes, and a GT axelback(aka 2 mufflers). If ur buying the GT-takeoff from a person who owns the GT, u might be able to get the GT over axel pipes too from them if they bought a whole new system, if not a body shop shouldbe able to make them for $100 or less. And the GTaxelback(2 mufflers) ucan find on anymustang exhaust site and check the drivetrain section and youtube for ur sound preferences. The cat's really don't matter unless ur state has strict emission regulations. All factory made cars come with 4 cats. 2 by the y pipe(might be 1 w/the V6)and 2 by the headers. The h-pipe just replaces the y-pipe and it's cats so u'll be fine even if ur state has strict emission regulations. Don't worry, if u get everything I said, the exhaust will work fine andu/the mechanic will have no problem w/the install(should be a 2-3hr job).Good Luck on ur exhaust!

No. The 4.6L GT pipes and cats coming off the manifolds are NOT a direct bolt in replacement for our 4.0L V6's. Some GT owners will remove this section and go with an OFF-ROAD pipe that eliminates their cats. That section is not a bolt in for us when replacing the factory Y-pipe on the 4.0L. Just remember, an off-road pipe = not cats. There are on-road GT H-pipe and X-pipe sections available that can be cut in behind our cats. The passenger side H or X will line up with the existing pipe, but a GT mid-pipe for the drivers side will be needed from the H/X to the axleback muffler (so the mid-pipe is bent to go over the rear axle).
