the past few weeks my car battery has been acting very weird... i have had the car for 2 1/2 years alittle more than that actually but these past few weeks the car will start and the clock and stuff will reset itself and today for the second time, my battery was dead...

i dont leave anything on and i have an hid kit so it draws less power....

how long do batterys generally last more or less and i have 38k miles on the car...

any help would be great.

i see in your sig you have neon underglow, depending on how thats wired that could deffinitly be causeing a short somewhere.

well i have my original battery from 2000. Autozone or something should be able to check your battery. Otherwise,something has to be pulling juice from the battery. Have any questionable wiring? you could get a meter and check some wires with the car off and see if anything is pulling amps. Battery drains suck to hunt down.

The Shaker 500 in-dash units can also drain your battery down. The one in my wife's 05 vert went haywire and started cycling through the CD's with the key off and door open. It drained my battery overnight. Ford replaced the 500 under warranty. So it could be your radio acting up...

yeah, its either your stereo that went bananas or one of your lighting mods. althought the faker500 is not the best, its also not the worst. i had similar battery issues during the time i had my ipod adapter installed. since its been removed, i have had no more issues with my car........yet .

iv had mine for just over a year and i had similar issues. it had set uotside for about a week without any drive time and when i went to start it, the battery was dead. i had someone help me jump start the car and then i drove about an hour. then, about three days later i was going on a trip out of town and again, the battery was dead. again, i had it jumped and drove a total of 3 hours on the highway. when i got back into town i took it to autozone for a battery diagnostic and they told me the battery was like new, better than any one they could give me off their shelf. so, i went to Ford to get their opinion. they said that a short could be somewhere in the electrical system or something could be floating around inside the battery in its cells, like debris or something. anyway, not very helpful i know, just wanted to let ya know that i had very similar problems and hopefully that small road trip solved it. ill know for sure over the next few days.

my car is 9 months old...and if it sets for a week..theres a good chance the battery will be dead... just more corners that the beancounters at ford took. dont get me wrong, i love my stang..but...

there are soo many el cheapo parts on this car that they charge la primo new car prices for..

i have the underbodies but it isnt connected, i took the fuse out like 2 years ago, lololol.


i guess i could try autozone but def thinking of taking it 2 ford to find stuff out cause its weird. its a p.i.t.a.... lol

Hook up an amp meter and start pulling fuses until the draw disappears.
You have then found the culprit. Then you can fix the problem device
and quit guessing.

i have neons and no probs with them at all. and my shaker doesnt give me and probs either. i have 38k on the car too
