Vortech vs Procharger?
I hear that both superchargers are thecentrifugal type. I want to know the differences hp wise per psi. I hear Procharger makes more hp perpsi than vortech, but would like to know why and if its true. I would like to know what both make intercooled wise and the reliability/maintenence of each if anyone knows. Thanks ahead for any info you have.
I think that procharger just makes more power per psi because they use an air-to-air intercooler while vortech uses a water-to-air. I don't really know about the reliability or maintainince, but I believe the vortech taps into the oil pan while the procharger has its own oil that has to be changed every so often. I have also heard that the vortech is more reliable than the procharger, but I think those were more rumors and opinoin than anything.

Well at 12 psi, I think the vortech will reach somwhere around 310 rwhp, while the procharger will get maybe 320. I don't think the difference in a vortech and a procharger would be much different from a drivers perspective, because they aren't huge differences, but you would see a difference on a dyno. Now I don't have either system, so all of my information is just from the internet, so hopefully some people can verify what I am saying just to make sure I am 100% correct.

I think its vice versa the vortech get higher Hp but the prochargers run higher tq and faster 1/4 times aswell . Just what ive noticed..
But go turbo so much Better......
I know i went from a procharger to turbo

I found this on another site:
For those of you who don't know or don't remember I have a 2006 manual 4.0 that I just installed a procharger on. It's the 2-core intercooler and the only other performance mod is a ford racing axle-back exhaust.
with the 9psi pulley: 327hp/327tq
with the 12psi pulley: 344hp/346tq
in 105degree weather.
Not sure what vortech makes at those psi's, but I think it's less. That's why I want someone to confirm it. I read another guy with the same mods and an auto with just an axelback on vortech's H/O(aftercooled) kit w/12psionly making 310rwhp 305torque. I'm still confused. Those numbers on a manual would make ~330rwhp and 322~rwtorque. It seems like the procharger makes a good 15rwhp moreat leasteven in harsh conditions vs about normal.

It seems that a lot of auto's have Vortech's. I only know of one manual with a Vortech at 12psi, and he is making 340rwhp. The Procharger is gunna make a few ponies more, there are goods and bads for each system
There are two possible reasons for the Procharger making 5-10rwhp more than the Vortech...
1) The blower is more efficient, it needs less power to make boost. Taking less power means it takes less from the engine, which means that more can be put to the ground.
2) The air-air system on the Procharger is more efficient than the air-water-air system on the Vortech. Cooler air going in means more power.
Personally, I believe it is a bit of both that makes the Procharger make more power.
