RE: The End Of The Door Rattle
Okay, I was fiddling with the stereo today, trying to see if I could create any more rattles. I found another tiny one in the window switch housing on the driver's side door. This time, I pulled the housing out of the door, disconnected the two plugs, and pulled the top switch plate from the lower housing. I figured I could place some Dynamat between these two pieces, as in the TSB posted above. I did this, but I also noticed something curious. The larger of the two switching units, the one that handles the two front windows, is quite loose in its socket. Loose enough, and large enough to cause the rattle I was hearing. The single switch that handles the rear windows was actually quite snug, so no problem there. So I pried the double-switch out, stuck a small piece of Dynamat on its side, and popped it back in. Now that the window switches are back in the door, I seriously cannot find a single rattle related to the stereo. Hopefully, with some combination of these little fixes, along with the door handle fix someone posted earlier, we can all get rid of the Shaker-related rattles.
BTW - Ford should be ashamed of themselves.
