the 2005s are known to have bad motors for the gauges. my fuel gauge and tach went out, bought a new cluster and fixed the problem, though I never had a check engine light come on because of this.. If the dealer just sold you this car I would think they would fix it.

iTS SUCH A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, THE STEPPER MOTORS ARE ACTUALLY AVAILABLE ON EbAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

My fuel gauge has been working intermittently ever since it got cold in Missouri a few months back. Also making a funny sound behind the cluster...will have to look into this stepper motor thing....

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned the water leak issue and it's impact on the SJB.

my fuel gauge had a similar problem. it would float around the first quarter line or stay at empty when the tank was full. it was going on for like a month or two so i took it into the dealer and they kept it all day.. the next day when i got it back they said nothing was wrong.. funny that it never happened again after it left the dealer though..
