Default jba header install

i did do a little research on the jba website and looked at the install sheet and reviewed over some of the previous forum posts. but in short if some of you who have done this install could tell me how difficult the install was overall.

Itwasn't that difficult, only took a couple of hours for the headers. I didn't use the supplied bolts in place of the manifold studs. Used the stock nuts. Reconnecting the EGR tube was a pain. I needed a second person to hold the bolts for the flanges going to the cats. It was easier for my son to hold the bolts heads from the engine bay side with a ratchet and 12" of extentions than for me to do it from underneath. The little extention pieces for the coil was real fun. I didn't undo any of the plug wires or anything at the coil. I had one heck of time trying to get the dipstick tube to line up. I had to pull it off twice and bend it slightly on my knee to get the bolt to finally start. After the fact, I had lots of marks on the pretty silver coating from all of my wrenching with the open end. The stock nuts are the locking kind. The nutsdidn't go back onby hand, so itwas tedious wrenching all of those downstanding in awkward positions. I used the supplied gaskets.I tried using my torque wrench to tighten downall the fasteners, butcouldn't get to all of them. Ended up tightening them all down with my calibrated elbow. Don't try to do it in a rush. Take your time and it isn't too bad. I also installed my FRPP duals kit at the same time, so it took me one evening and the next morning to get it finished the entire upgrade.

My car sounds very good now, but I couldn't tell you if it was from the headers or the duals. Nice deep and throaty. I did both at the same time. I wasn't going to do the headers, but I decided since I was going to rip out the entire system, I might as well do the headers at the same time. I'm glad I did, but the headers don't look like they're that much more efficient than the stockers. I got the silver ceramic coated, they are much prettier to look at. I don't know if there was any performance gain. Running CAI and perf tunes, I'd never know if it did. I do get a lot of compliments on the sound.

Default RE: jba header install

Hi Jon, I installed these headers on my 07. Not bad, except don't do what I did on the driver's side and put the gasket on upside down. Had to take the header back off and lost two hours in the process. If you put a gasket on upside down you won't be able to put the spark plug wires back on the plugs. So get it right the first time. I used car ramps and had tons of room putting the headers up in from below. I also have a tubular subframe I had installed, and this made the job even easier. Jack
