Im looking to get some subs in my car but I dont know what is needed. Will the amp for the subs hook up to the stock head unit or will I have to buy a aftermarket head unit. Other then the Subs..Amp..and install kit what would be needed.

pass all the shaker processed sound intended for cheap OEM speakers
toyour new high $$ amp and speakers and make your new additions sound like crap.
You get what you pay for. And for $12, you will be selling it on eBay as soon
as you go thru all the trouble of installing it then removing it.
But hey, its your stang and your ears....
BTW, that adapter will add THD to your system pre add on amp and THD kills speakers.
Save a little now, but pay big for new speakers in the near future. And the cycle will
continue until you remove that $2.98 distortion producer.
Get a real 'active speaker to line level adapter/sound cleaner' and do it once.
Been there and done that about 30 years ago....

RE: Shaker 500/Subs/Amp
here's one at crutchfield for $20. Im not sayingthis is better than the one you listed but i wouldnt pay $300-600 for just a converter then have to pay $300-600 for a cheap sub and amp. That $600 minimum for just equipment not counting box and install equipment. I spent the moneyon a new DVD headunit in my car with RCA ouputs.

RE: Shaker 500/Subs/Amp
ya the shaker system is alright. if you want to replace the head unit youre going to want to get something better like a dvd player or something. i would just get the converter. i dont think you need to get the $300 one but definitely dont get the cheap wal-mart brand one. i put one in my F-150 it worked for like 6 months then it fried my radio i was pissed. somy advice is to getsomething with a little quality behind it. unless you dont care if you fry all your stuff.

RE: Shaker 500/Subs/Amp
i been putting custom stereos in all my cars for years....
imo
new head unit if your adding a sub...and for our cars i wouldnt go with anything over 1 10" unless you plan on doing crazy stuff to it and showing it....
i so far have replaced my head unit...have the factory speakers...and the capacitor....took a good sounding system and made it great...i plan to upgrade my speakers (most likely polk) and 1 10" sub with an amp....but im doing speakers last...my stereo sounds fine.....
