Why not the Paxton supercharger?

Why not the Paxton supercharger?
why don't i ever hear this discussed as a viable option for those looking to go f/i? shelby's site claims its been dyno'd at 350rwhp. isn't this pretty substantial? i would also trust it if its the one shelby uses in the cs6. not only that, its cheaper than most turbos (definitely cheaper than the powerhouse), and more powerful (at least compared to the sts for example).

It is a viable option.
My guess would be that its extremely hard to install, almost has to be a shop install. Another thingmight bethat it makes the engine bay look crammed way too full IMHO. As far as Shelby's sight goes that 350 bhp is for the cs6 setup. I don't remember what all else is on the cs6 performance wise but thatis part of the 350bhp too.

I believe the Paxton is virtually identical to the Vortech while being several hundred dollars more expensive. Price minded individuals go with the Vortech over the Paxton name.

I have a Paxton, supposedly the head unit is different (I don't know how) than theVortech but it looksthe sameto me. All the other parts in the kit are Vortech parts and it is installed in exactly the same way. You can buy the Paxton Novi-1200 separate from the CS-6 kit. http://www.shelbyperformanceparts.com/ListItems.aspx
If it was me, I would buy either a Vortech or Paxton depending on which one was cheaper. Boost for the intercooled one with the supplied 3.25 inch pulley was 9 lbs which gave about 330hp.

Well my biggest issue was a ball bearing that went out after only a year and I had to change the entire head unit. I didn't have my car for 3 weeks, and it was my only car. The install was pretty expensive and also the intercooler they give you is pathetic. I also had problems with the pump because it was not even pumping the water through the intercooler half the time.
I would go Paxton, it's an easier install....i think. Plus you can get one of those intercooler spray bars since it is an air/air intercooling system. Can't do that for the vortechs.

No, it's exactly the same air-water intercooler (it even says Vortech on it). The installation and parts are exactly the same. The intercooler radiator on mine functioned ok but it seemed kinda small so I replaced it with a Fluidyne one which is huge.
