$12-15K is not realistic...you are looking at more like $4-5K to be on the road again.

BUT...like mentioned before...FI is the way to go. The 4.0 loves boost and delivers across the board...not to mention you still have a ***** cat commuter car to use as a daily driver.

Save up $3-4K and you are good to go with FI.

Back int he day...swapping a motor was commonplace, but there are just too many gremlins these days to attempt this with a daily driver. FI though is a bolt on easy addition that delivers massive smiles:dollar.

OK lets say you do put a bigger V8 in the car.....you still will be slow as hell and still need to supercharge.....so really you have to add the cost of of the s/c AND the new engine

If you go F/I with the V6 go with a turbo. If you want to do a V8 swap go with a 5.4L GT500 motor for 12-15k.

You will need more than that for the GT500 5.4 4v swap.

That's true, 12-15k will only get you the motor, maybe...

i heard of people back in the day taking out v6nd putting in v8's nd keeping the same vin so insurance didnt go up... how much do you think it would cost to do this... if you were to sell the v6... and put in a v8..?
A word to the wise from a guy who was in the auto insurance line for years...if you do the swap and don't tell your insurance company...you may not have coverage if you have amishap as you have "misrepresented" your car. In a loss, the best case is they will not cover the expense of the engine swap. Worst case, no insurance coverage at all....not a smart move. Depending on your age, the pennies yousave is not worth the risk. Just my 2 cents...

Id do V8. Why would I want to be able to beat slightly modded GTs, when I could change my car into something better than a GT and over time build it into a monster that creams anything. I would even put a stock GT 4.6 3 valve crate engine from ford racing in it....
Last time I looked the engine was 6-7K brand new. Im not saying that Turbocharging the 6 wouldn't be cool i mean look at the grand national! but id still rather have an 8.
