A Pruis wouldnt be cheap if it cost $1, I mean it gets you there, but that is it. If you can afford $350 a month in gas, atleast with a few sacrifices, I think you could be able to find a cheap Beater. I wouldnt be new or trouble free, but you would still have your mustang and you could still get pretty decent milage out of and old Junk Honda or something. Plus you would be savin miles on your Stang

I was spending $350.00/mo or $4000.00/yr in gas to and from work getting 28.5mpg on the average. When hard on it, 25mpg and on humidity free day, almost 30MPG, summer conditions with NO 10% Ethenol gas. Recently retired with part-time work 1/2 the distance was formally driving. Fortunately, could afford it. Young friends of mine are driving 1/2 way to work, for example , and are taking bicycle trail the other 10 miles or so.
One fellow bought one of those electric motor bicycles at Wa-Mart via their online store for $350. Says, gets about 8 miles before needing .08 cents battery charge if running on battery the whole time. Pretty cool set-up. If I had a job in the city, I'd get me one of these electric motor bicycles for commuting. Says if battery is completely dead, will take 4 hr charge. Has a very slim rear battery pack. Go green!!
