Default Modding on a budget

I'm looking to put a cai and tune on my stang, but I'm trying to budget myself modestly. What's my best route? Also, I'd like to tack on an axle back exhaust. It seems like the dual exhaust isn't really worth it. Any advice?

the VMP CAI/Custom Tuner/GT Take-Off muffler combo. should give you the most bang for your budget buck. what exactly is your budget?

Default Bananas

I've seen that combo. It seems significantly cheaper than other common choices. Are there any quality issues?

I don't have a specific budget set. basically I want the most bang for my buck. I'm looking for something quality, however.

get an underdrive pulley and tune.

underdrive pulleys give 12 hp and tunes also give 12 hp, CAI's only give 5 hp and cost $300 which makes no sense. A GT axle back adds 5 hp. Get the bamachips performance tune.

Just curious..

Which UD pulley gives those gains with the 4.0? I don't recall seeing any testing of one that did.

I would like to see some dynos on that for sure!

The ones I have seen showed about 3-4hp on the 4.0. Our local shop has installed two and they said they got 3hp out of each with a solid baseline before the install.

If 12hp was a realistic gain, than that would assume the parasitic draw would be around 50hp+. If Ford let this thing off the drafting table with 50hp+ into ether...then we all have a big problem.

I would do CAI, Tune, LCA's, Zaptec TB, headers.

vmptuning.com sells the least expensive cai/tuner package out there at $449.00. The only difference between the vmp cai and the more expensive one is its looks. You don't get a fancy air inlet tube with the vmp cai and its performance is just as good as the rest. These 2 mods along with a performance muffler are good for about 20-25 HP. If you have an automatic it will drive much better too because of the tunes improvement of the transmissions up shifts and elimination of the downshift lag that our stock V6 automatics have. Throttle responce is improved also. There is more you can do later(gears,t-lok,etc.)but this is a good starting point.

Default banana hammock

yeah, I saw that vmp package, I was just concerned because of the price. usually there are reasons things cost less.
