Default Advice on Hood and repairs

Hey guys,
so as you know my car was recked a few days ago and its at the dealers now getting fixed.. Look at my sig. and see how my hood with hood scoop was before..
The dealer is offering me 2 options.. (I cant buy an aftermarket hood)

1. They will put a hood on with the factory OEM hood scoop.
2. THey will put the base hood on and give me the money to buy another hood scoop.

What do you think?

By the way, got into an argument with the dealer today.. The tech tried to tell me there was no difference between the gt and v6 front bumper.. I had to fight him and acutally print out pictures for him to see it.. haha

i'd go with OEM, its preference though, if you liked your xenon you could rock that again or maybe try a roush!

Dealers can be such ********...

The OEM hood retails over $900 right now.
Any good aftermarket one will be cheaper by at least a couple of hundreds

Get your own hood and have them paint it, they can't b#tch at that.

For future references... avoid dealerships for bodywork and paint
Also, inspect your car thouroughly before driving away from their lot.

Good luck.

They really won't let you get an aftermarket hood? Like pascal said it would be cheaper. I forgot how it got recked. Did you go through insurance and choose to take it to the dealership or is this a warranty issue?

If I were you, I would get in touch with my insurance agent. They should replace what ever is damaged be it OEM or aftermarket.
My daughter was in an accident last week causing $6999 worth of damage to her Focus. They are going to fix it AND replace the after market rim that was scuffed. Stupid part is, they are paying $162.00 for an $89.00 rim! I told them that I KNOW the rim does not cost that much, but they said it was a mark up because they have to buy it through their vendors. What they don't know is, I know that only one company makes and sells them! I did call my insurance company and let them know that they were being over charged for a rim. I doubt if it will solve anything. I wished I could have caught it before they ordered it. I would have told them to cut me a check and I would buy the rim!

My '08 is in the shop now getting a new hood (as well as a roof) due to a hail storm. The insurance company paid $687 for a used hood. They will pay up to 1k for a new one if no used is available. So, I bought a Cervini Concept hood for $595 and will take the $687 towards my $750 deductible. It worked out well for me! Basically I bought a hood instead of paying my deductible.

Yea, I argued with my insurance guy about OEM replacement parts (hoods,
fenders, bumpers etc..) being more costly than the aftermarket items they want
me to pay more $$ for them to insure...
How bout them giving you ALL the money and you
go elsewhere (its your choice as to whom fixes the damage,
NOT the insurance companies choice) where you CAN get
the cheaper aftermarket hood you desire....

And the full inspection after the work is done, if you have it done there,
is time well spent looking at every nook and cranny, not just
where it was damaged. I drove away with green overspray on
my RedFire and they claimed it happened after I left and in the 24
hours before I could get it back there to complain. It is still there as I would
not let them 'buff it off' for fear of having a swirly nightmare afterwords.
Maybe claybar will remove the overspray, BodyShop man Pascal?

Claybar works well with overspray and oxidation, yes.
The good part is, you can't hurt the car...
