2 1/4 on the V6 OEM intermediate pipes and 2 1/2 on the GT intermediate pipes.

Check the pics where the V6 pipes are slipping INTO the GT pipes.

so if i am going to install a resonator or mid muffler after my hpipe ( where my y pipe was on the stock exhaust) I will need a 2 1/2 intake and outlet on the muffler?
seems like the borla stingers and mid pipes were the same for gt and v6??? when i bought them?

If your aftermarket H pipe is 2 1/2", yes.
If its a GT H pipe then yes.
If it is 2 1/4" then no.
Get under and measure it with some calipers, maybe?
I dont know what you gots under there if it is not the OEM Y Pipe....

You would know if your H pipe was 2 1/2 cause it wont fit on the 6 without some welding and changing. Its most likely a 2 1/4. If you have stock headers and the pipe is the same size all the way through then you know. Just get under there and nose around a little bit.

sorry I dont want to jack the thread but im not positive on this myself. if I buy a GT X Pipe with a 2.5" in and out, do I need a new passenger side intermediate pipe? I thought the V6 was a 2.5 or am I wrong?

The stock v6 is 2.5 after the Y.
For dual exhaust after an H or X, that will most likes be 2.5" pipes; so 2.5" in/out is what you'll need, assuming you're planning on putting them inline with the midpipes before they go over the axle.
I ran some magnaflow 4" round resonators in place of the mufflers (for one day), and I didn't like the sound of them; was too loud for my taste, but that was without any other kind of muffler with them.
I do have them for sale, but they have curved ends welded on for connecting in place of the stock muffler; those can be cut off and the resonators welded in. Would sell the pair for $90 + shipping.

just to be clear, cuz some of these answers are confusing me... heres my set up
I cut my y pipe off, i do not have a "y". I connected a JBA H-pipe to the spot where the "y pipe" used to be. Then I connected JBA over the axels pipes to the H pipe and Ford Racing Stingers out the back.
I would like to add some small resonators in between my Hpipe and the the over the axel pipes. I need to know what size inlet/outlet to get on the resonator.
The JBA pipes installed on my car fit perfectly to the stock pipes where the "y pipe" was cut off. Still dont know what size..scared im gonna buy the wrong size. I called a couple of muffler shops around here and seems bevis and butthead work at everyone of them, told me "you cant install anything anywhere on a mustang except out the back, theres no room..." I guess all the pictures Ive seen on here are a figment of my imagination..

What freaking size muffler do I need already.
So I've been searching and searching the internet can't answer a simple question. What size muffler do I need for a 07 mustang, 18 in x 4.25 x 9? Or what, I already know I need a 2.5 inlet/outlet, the exhaust was redone and they ran straight pipes independently all the way to the back. I just need to know the demensions of the muffler that will fit back there and somewhat lineup with the hangers. Anybody know?

Ben, I believe if you order a muffler from a distributor, they should give you the size you need based on what set up you have.
Years ago, I ordered Pypes X pipe dual exhaust system along with 2 GT Mufflers.
Very pleased with the looks and sound. Never did understand why Ford put such a wimpy muffler on the V6.
