Default Thunderbird T5R55S Swap?

My biggest and only complaint about my 05 V6 vert is that I can't shift it, biggest reason for that is there were no v6 manuals available and no GT's in my price range. I bought the car and love it but miss at least the semi-auto I had in my previous cars. I started doing some research on the Mustangs tranny and other trannies Ford has used.

I have found that the new Ford Thunderbird's use the same 5R55S transmission that auto Mustangs have except they are also available with the 5R55S transmission with a "select shift" feature.

Now I know a new tranny is not cheap but I have the car no and am saving for doing mods to it (needed the car no, so couldn't wait to save up more to buy a GT)

Has anyone swapped these trannies and gotten a select shift in their Mustang?

Is it as simple as swapping transmissions, shifters, and the transmission control module?

Any input would be awesome, thanks!

I've actually wondered this too, ever since I got a ride in my friends T-Bird. Would be pretty cool to have semi-auto.

That looks awesome and is much cheaper. I think I might get this. I do have some questions on shifting.

1st, when you turn the car on and put it in drive, it acts just like 'D' right?
2nd, how do you activate shifting? Do you put it in 'D' then use the lock out paddle?
3rd, If you don't shift while in the ratchet mode there is no safety mechanism right?

I am very interested in this, anyone in or near Delaware with it? Any videos of users with this mod shifting it? Thanks

4th, how well does down shifting work while driving say at highway speeds?

I found a couple videos on youtube but didn't learn all I wanted from them.
