Default Heat coming up from under the car?

Well about a month or so ago I noticed when my window is down and the car is stopped (or just getting shut off) when I open my door (or have my arm hanging out the window at a stop) I can feel a burst of heat come from underneath the car. Is this normal?
Also today I noticed for the first time that my vents felt hot and I cold feel a very very very light breeze of hot air coming through them and I had the vents shot off (the O position).
Anyone know what this is?!

Cut down on the Mexican food and it'll disappear.

totally normal. You'll really feel a blast of heat if the AC is running or if the Radiator fan is on. The whole idea is to move heat away from the car and since heat rises, as soon as it can, it does.

True. When I saw that the battery is wrapped in a heat shield I knew that these engines were little blast furnaces. I even feel the heat coming from the front as the dash and footwells get toasty after a good drive.

After a long drive, I usually lift my hood to let the engine cool off.
Our engines are cast iron so they do retain hood for longer periods of time.

ALL engines generate tons of waste heat and our cooling systems only dissipate a percentage of it. It's gotta go somewhere...
