Filters
The AEM is decent in terms of efficiency. It's slightly worse than the OEM unit but becomes very restrictive at light loading. It doesn't hold much dust though. Isn't a cleaning kit required?
Take a look at the attached link to test documents.
The first graph indicates what happens to restriction and air flow once the filters begin to collect dust.
The pass through document illustrates how much the filters allow to pass.

I got the AEM filter because it is a dry filter, not an Oiled one.
No cleaning kit is required, but it wouldn't hurt to use one. Plus I'd like to see testing from an independent source rather than from one of the companies.

i used to run an AEM intake with dryflow filter which is why i even mentioned it. its filtration is rated high but at the cost of high air flow as compared to cotton-oil filters. they do come oversized to help compensate for the restriction in air flow. good choice if good filtration is your primary concern.
they do offer cleaning kits and i actually cleaned mine once when i had it. i waited for about 7k before cleaning. would have sold you mine but its only sized for a 2.75" inlet.

Testing
ISO 5011 testing is consistent throughout the world.
The test uses standard air (SCFM), fine dust and it's repeatable anywhere.
Sancho805 is accurate in the assesment of air flow as it gets dirty.
We've tested dozens of performance media and significant compromises exist. It took a great deal of time to design and engineer R2C performance media.
Try it. You won't look back.
Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back in full!
