That's certainly a fine plan, and tire smoke is definitely toxic to remorse bugs

As one of the X-Charger "old timers" (s/n 004...) I remember the long months waiting as Dave designed, tweaked and tested the original kits before they were finally unleashed. The development of the intercooled setup went a similar path with many months of anxious and eager waiting for many of us, but the wait is nearly over, and just in time to get cars prepped for springtime.

One of my DREAMS is to have a supercharger or turbocharger in my six. Whenever I see or hear of someone getting one for there six, I can't help but smile.

Congrats on the purchase! And remember, you only live once. Don't let that 'buyer's remorse' **** with you
I remember that too and I still get flashbacks about drilling holes into my car I had that dream as soon as I saw Rygen's timeslip like two years ago. I couldn't believe someone was doing things like that in a v6. I finally had info that would shut up all of my friends who asked me 'why didn't you get a v8? You wasted your $$.' I couldn't count how many times I heard that...o and people busted my ***** saying I had a girl's car. I can't wait to get this thing in a blow their doors off!! I'm sure you'll get whatever F/I you want whenever you're ready to pull the trigger. Thanks for the kind words!!

I get the buyer's remorse thing too. I have to tell myself that I work hard, I save my money, I don't waste it on lots of luxuries, and that I deserve something nice for myself one in a while.

You don't really have to get a bunch of other stuff to go with your X-treme. Driveshaft is nice, but it's not like you're going to break your stock one. The 2005 Mustangs had the driveshafts with the staked u-joints, but if you have the c-clipped ones, you're ok.

Dual exhaust will help your setup breathe better, but it's not like you're going to kill your HP without one.

Headers are nice, but you don't get much performance for the money. I only got a set because they were super cheap on a clearance.

Rear lower control arms would be nice for controlling wheel hop, but not necessary unless you're flooring it from a standstill all the time.

If you upgrade your throttle body, check out the Zabtek. They flow like 800 cfm. The stock one flows almost 700 cfm. Some people had problems with the BBK. But really, people are running 800cfm carbs on 427 stroker small blocks. How much throttle body do you need?

If I was on a budget, and not going to the strip all the time, I'd get a dual exhaust and call it good.
Thanks for the insight and the recommendations Mr. Ugly. I knowI don't need a driveshaft unless I plan on pushing it over 115+ on the regular..which I don't...I just wanted the added safety

I'll look into the Zabtek TB especially since you said the BBK has issues. Should I just get a TB spacer instead of a TB since the stock one flows so well? I was thinking about the Steeda one to help with MPGs as well as better air flow.

As far as exhaust setups go I wanted to add dual exhaust consisting of BBK Shorty Headers, a Prochamber & Boomtubes. I was thinking this would free up more ponies and give me a much deeper note than my single GT Takeoff.

My suspension work up will come in due time. I wanted to get it done this summer, but with the unexpected cost of the X-CX I doubt I'll be able to. I still have to pick up a set of staggered 20s & a GT500 conversion kit. This habit is soooo expensive....but well worth it. I can't wait to make my first trip to the track this year!!

As far as extra supporting mods to the X, I'm sticking with single exhaust for a while. I'd like to get Boost, A/F ratio, and an Interceptor gauge next, but even those will wait for a few months after I install the X-Xtreem.

For many of us the Xcharger is the single biggest ($$$ & HP) improvement we'll do to our cars. Enjoy the heck out of it, and add the other things as you can. That's my plan anyway. Good luck to all of us on our upcoming installs!!
Did you have to get the whole kit, or just the IC upgrade? I think I'm going to pick up two of the Interceptor gauges and call it a day. I was thinking of mounting them in the two middle air vents, but I'm not completely sold. I mean I just did my audio install and flush mounted my tweeters in my A pillar...I don't want to overcrowd my pillar with 'stuff', plus the air vent gauge pods look pretty slick. If adding F/I isn't the single biggest expense I'd hate to see what is....short of doing an engine swap.

Topless:
I ordered the whole kit. One thing on the gauges; from what I've read on the forums, if your going with F/I you should have a Wideband Air Fuel gauge. I've been looking at the Autometer 6178

It's around $300. It comes with everything you need including the sensor. You will need to tap a hole in the exhaust to mount the sensor. This will let you know if your engine's mix is proper, and will give you a heads up before you wreck the engine is something goes wrong.

The Interceptors monitor a lot, but don't do Air/Fuel out of the box. They need an additional sensor to read A/F ratio.

It's another $180, but is a complete package, and plugs into the Interceptor's AUX sensor inputs.

Just wanted to give you a heads up on what I've researched about F/I gauges. Maybe save you a Search

Again I'm planning to run without them for a few months, but defiantly will do A/F first.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll just be getting the addon for the interceptor. From what I read on the each one has two AUX inputs for things like A/F inputs and what not. I'm thinking two of the gauges with 4 inputs should allow for monitoring pretty much everything with only two gauges. I was all set to pick up three to four separate gauges until someone pointed me to the Interceptor about a month ago. I'm not getting those from jump either. I'm going to get a conservative mail order tune and keep it that way until I get some other mods in place. Then I'll pick up the gauges and get it dyno tuned. Are you putting your X-CX in yourself?

Topless - I have the Roush gauge pods in the center vents (wideband AFR and boost) and it really looks great. Last time I had in the Ford garage the service manager wanted to know where I got it because it looks factory. The center vents are in a good location as well for taking a quick look at them.

As I recall TorchVert has them as well.

He said the second batch should have parts in within 30 days...but then again the fuel rails that are on back order for me were due in next month. Sounds like a good mod list. I thought about long tubes, but most info I read says not to use them. How much did those set you back? I was eyeing a set of Pacesetters for a while but decided to just get a set of BBK Shorties...Your mod list sounds great. I plan on doing most of what you have listed...just with different parts except for the Roush vent gauge pods.

That's my plan as well. I'm looking at getting those pods with two interceptor gauges. I want to get a few add-ons for the gauges so I can monitor a wide assortment of things. Did you notice if it takes longer for the HVAC to heat/cool the car after installing the gauges?

I agree with the opinion on the DS, but one note of correction. The early 2006 V6 S197's also had the staked u-joints (my old '06 PP-coupe did). Since the OP has an '06, he should confirm that his u-joints have the c-clips.

Is there any way I can check while it's still on the car?

I got mine in a swap for my stock exhaust manifold from a guy who is doing a turbo kit
for LT's I'd go w/ the stainless steel works ones or the mac ones w/ a prochamber
Just know if you do shorty headers they're a looks only mod, no perf gain
