Default Tower strut brace

I've been looking for a strut brace for a while. And the selection for the 6 is just so minimal. I know the plenum is higher in the 6 causing clearance issues with the GT braces. Is there a way to modify simply by putting some sort of shim between the brace and tower? Does anybody know how much difference there is in clearance that I would have to account for or would it just be better to flip the bill for one of the V6 ones on the market.

I have the FRPP V6 one and it looks a functions well without being over kill or two expensive. If you don't like the silver color it comes in just have it powder coated another color. That's what I did.

I say go for the GT one and make some shims yourself and make it happen. I don't think the difference is really that much. Hopefully someone can chime in with the actual clearance differences.

Problem with doing shims on a GT brace is there isn't enough threads sticking up from the strut mount to shim very much at all. You would have to make male/female threaded stand offs to do that and since they are also at an angle you may have to clearance the holes to make it fit even then. I don't know the exact difference in height but it is somewhere near 1" more or less.

what about a gt500 brace? there's a few on sale on ebay, would they fit a v6? Also does a tower brace make that much of a difference or is it mainly cosmetic

Purely cosmetic. I like the silver one Ford sells on the GT the best, (it won't fit the V6) but all in all I think it would get in the way when you have to change plugs or do any other type of work from the sides. On the 4.6 the plugs are on top and easy to get at, but not on the 4.0.
