Default Getting a Dual Exhaaust Conversion Tomorrow!

YES! I found a custom muffler shop here in Phoenix that is going to be converting my V6 into a true dual tomorrow. I think its a great deal, as they are only charging $300 parts and labor.

Does this sound too good to be true?

I'll post pics tomorrow

Are they providing the parts, or you? You need (or really should use) 2 additional muffler hangers, and some shops will take one off the passenger side and put it on driver side and only use one on each side, not a good approach. The over-axle pipe is needed for the second side, unless the split after the Y. And you need a muffler; GT takeoffs are cheap (many people sell them for $40-50 plus shipping, including me).

Let us know how it comes out.

custom muffler shop
Thats the way to go^^. Hopefully it's a good one, if so you won't be disappointed. I had all mine custom bent by a race garage here. Best sounding N/A v6 I think I've ever heard. Great low tone and not overly/annoyingly loud.

That price is with them supplying the parts.

I'll definately bring up the hangars tomorrow, and make sure they do it right. As far as the muffler, the shop said that they have the same V6 mufflers there, and thats what they use for the conversion.

Thats what I'm thinking too. Just doing research the last couple of months, it seems like the prices of bolt ons are insane compared to what that shop is charging. And besides, I'm not looking for enormous performance gains, just something a little rumbly-er, and the look of the duals. No sense in pouring too much into the exhaust of a V6.......at least not yet, its only been 3.5 weeks since I got it!

Got any sound clips?

Anyhow +1 here, if they're custom bending the pipes for you, I think that alone is worth the $$$. Keep us posted

Just dropped the car off, and I think this is really going to be awesome. The guy there really knows his stuff, and its a quick turnaround: It'll be done in a few hours!

Now, I was given the option of X-pipe or H-pipe. I chose the H-pipe for the lower rumble....might as well sound good if I'm going through the trouble of getting an exhaust done.

But does anyone know the true permance/fuel economy difference between the 2? I read that X-Pipes give more HP, but the H-pipe gets more torque. Is that right? Hows the gas mileage?

(Also picked out some pretty sweet chrome tips!)

$300 is a steal! I paid $315 just for parts, excluding the mufflers!

Well, with the chrome tips I chose, plus I'm having him cut my bumper for the exhaust, plus tax, it'll creep up closer to $400
