Default H-pipe or no H-pipe? HELP

Hey everyone, i know there are numerous threads on wether or not to put on the Xpipe or Hpipe, but I think I am already set on the Hpipe if I were to put it on in the first place. Now, what do you guys think? Is it worth it? And if not, how come? Any drawbacks? How much should I be expecting to pay?

Currently, i have the dual exhaust but i feel this addition would make it complete.

Thanks!

You definitely want to stick some kind of cross-over pipe in there because the 4.0 engine likes to work with a little bit of back-pressure and straight pipes are a little too free-flowing.

I have a custom H and wouldn't dream of putting in an X. Any extra HP gains would be minimal and I not worth sacrificing any deepness of sound for imo

People say an H is a little deeper sounding than an X. It probably is. I have an H pipe and it sounds great, but the mufflers are probably the biggest reason. I think you should get the H if you don't have a crossover now. If you have an X now, just keep it.

This debate has gone on for as long as I can remember, and there is hardly no difference in an X vs an H. I have an x-pipe and my car is deeper than most running an H pipe. What DOES matter is what muffler you put on your car WITH an x-pipe or h-pipe.

Example.. my GTA's with an X-Pipe sounds great, nice deep tone. An H-pipe with say flowmasters, may sound terrible.... it is all a mix of mufflers, crossovers etc.

It also matter if you are FI or not as well.

I currently don't have a crossover installed. Does it matter if I'm in CA?
I think the muffler shop quotes me at 120$ for the Hpipe, is that reasonable?
Also, the brand of my muffler is called "Elite" it was the shops muffler i believe, and the best sounding.

Thanks again!

Again, you are basing that on your setup. My x-pipe is not raspy at higher rpms.

It doesn't matter that you're in CA as long as you don't go above the dB limit, which you won't.
I think you're real question is the difference between straight pipes and an H, and to be honest I'm not to sure of the answer especially because Oddysey is right, the mufflers are the biggest factors. I've never heard of Elite mufflers, so can't provide much input.

$120 sounds ok. Shop around a bit more and when you get a quote ask them to break down how much of that is labor (and for how many hours, what is their hourly rate) and how much is in parts. I don't think putting in an H should take more than I couple of hours, seeing as thats how long it took to do my whole exhaust.

alright thank you, I'll be sure to ask those questions today. So basically, the h pipe is mainly a sound addition?
