Relocate the battery to the trunk right over the right rear axle.
Is this the Pony Package with the 17" rims and 235/55-17s on them
or the basic V6 with the 16" rims and 215/65-16s on them?
Wider tires really helped my 'one wheel take-off spin' situation.

What type of 'performance' tires? What size?
275/40-18s are 275mm wide and still offer the same OEM
rolling diameter (749 revs per mile) so the speedo is not thrown off.

Seems like some others are leaning towards more tire width and a T-Loc...

I put 285's in my rear and have to push the car so much harder to get the tires to make noise under acceleration or cornering, the best handling upgrade you can do is tires. I feel the stock 215/65r16 pizza cutters are to small even for stock mustangs, you could get a decent set of gt wheels which would get you to 235's, if you plan on putting a lot of power in your car I would get bigger wheels.

They were sumitomo high performance tires but I can't remember the size. I wrote it down somewhere. My car came with alloy wheels and leather seats so I don't know if that helps tell you what package I have.

Ok sounds like you have the base v6 that came with the 215/65r16 bfg goodrich tires. A bigger tire that grips well should really help with your car spinning on launch.

The tire size is on the side of the tire. The rim size would be the tire size and
if they are indeed OEM alloy rims on a V6 with no PP foglights than the rim
width can be determined from the rims diameter.
(you bought it new in 05, yes?). Leather tells me nothing about the rims/tires.
I just cant see the front grill or enough of the rims to get an idea of what you have...
btw, sumitomo are not the stickiest tires around, but the cheapest.
Whats the treadwear rating posted on the sidewall?

That is correct. I just checked. My mom is going to replace all four tires for my birthday. Any suggestions of specific brands?

215/65r16. And I bought it used from the Ford Dealership. The guy wouldn't shut up about the alloy wheels. Thinking that I would buy the car right then and there because they are alloy... And I bought a new grill and tossed the other one so that wouldn't help. And at that time I didn't know any thing about which performance tires were good or not and I wasn't about to pay premo prices for something I wasn't sure about. What brand of tires would you recommend?
