You are going to have a hard time finding 215/65-16s in a high performance tire.
http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-...a/tire-details
And to put a wider tire on that narrow (7") rim would produce the 'sidewall bulge'.
So first off, only a select few 05s had steel wheels so the salesman was
off his rocker touting the 16" allow wheels that are basically STANDARD on all S197s.
Second, you need some wider rims to accomidate wider tires.
I have 275/40ZR18s BFGoodrich G-force KDW IIs on the OEM 18" x 8.5" wide rims.
You must step up in rim width to put traction producing tires on there...

Thats a sweet deal about the tires, if your mom is going to replace all four and you want some more rubber and you have some cash burning a hole in your wallet, search for some bigger wheels that you could put those tires on.

see if your mom will split the cost of new rims + tires instead.

here are brand new, factory take-off tires and rims you can get for dirt cheap. you can get these combo's for cheaper than the cost of a set of rubber.

I spent almost $500 for my front tires alone, and am about to drop $600 for new rears...so $1,000 for new rims + tires is a damn good price in my book. Or $1,500 for the GT500 rims

Those are the standard base stock V6 wheels, nothing special about those.

Depends on size. if you up your size then most likely and also depends on how much material is used. I know bullits weigh a deal less then your stockers
