Cool Engine govener

Just bought a 2012 V6 Premium w/305 hp. Speedo goes up to 160, yet car cannot go beyond 118. I should have been told this limitation before I bought it.
Your thoughts.............

Wrong forum.
Just because a speedo goes to 160 doesn't mean the car can do that on the highway.

The speedo may go that high but it doesnt mean the car can safely reach that speed. At least not without some upgrades

Why?

Another thing, some cars have had driveshafts explode during high speed attempts...just something to be aware of.

That is sweet! My V6 will do 110mph, I won't try any faster till I get an aluminum
driveshaft.

You can get a tune that can change the upper limit, but it's not recommended to go much higher without an aluminum drive shaft, as Al suggested, as the OE shaft can grenade above 135.
