Maybe, if this problem is occuring through the convertible world, you could get a TSB, or something of the like written, so people know what it is when it happens. I would reccomend running the info to the dealers at least.

To be safe, like you said, I put my rear up first, then the front.
I did take my car in to the dealer and they adjusted the rear window to close properly, but I am going to continue that sequence.

This same thing happened to me shortly after I bought the car, but only on the driver side.
Your warranty will cover the defect, but I would not wait.
The tearing is due to an improper alignment of the rear window. I believe some of the cars do not have the proper window alignment done at the factory.
When the rear window is replaced, make sure they adjust them so you can put up the front windows completely first, then put up the rear without clipping the top of the front ones as they come fully up.

I agree. Already two of us have the problem, and I think it is going to be fairly common. I have already bought my new '05 in to get the drivers side rear window replaced and adjusted. The problem is fixed, for now.

The 06 has a feature where the window adjusts about a half in when opening and closing the door so the weather stripping is not in contact with the window when the door opens. Is the rubber being torn by the window closing and making contact with the roof or when the door is opened once the roof and windows are closed?

I have the drivers window problem in my convertible.

IF my drivers door window is UP... and then put the rear windows up... the drivers side rear window catches the drivers door window and stops short of coming all the way up.

Once haveing done "that".. it continues to stop at that particular stop point until I manually grab the rear side window and pull it into its proper stop point. it then works wonderfully until the next time I have the drivers window up and put the rear ones up... Dealer looked at it and told me nothing is wrong and to put the rear ones up first. DUH!... I have a second complaint lodged about it. As well as a second complaint on my foggy fog lights they didn't fix the first time around.

One thing tha tmakes you wonder... WHY didn't ford make the rear windows with a AUTO UP/DOWN switch... sure would have made working them a LOT easier.

The "05 has the same feature as the window lowers slightly as you open and close the door to form a tigher seal to keep moisture and sound out. That is not an issue.

The Tear occurs when the rear window comes up against the front door window that is already up. The apex of the rear window weather stripping catches the upper rear corner of the front window glass and it tears.

The problem is definitely the rear window being out of alignment. You have to either remember to put up the rear window's first, or have your dealer align the rear window properly.

Nice Ride Professor!
I think your dealer needs an attitude adjustment, as does your rear window.
Without an adjustment, at some point soon, he will be replacing a rear window, for sure.

Hi:

I have similar serious issue with my top also. See my recent post below.

" ... I want to ask a global question re my 2006 Mustang GT Convertible - I have had 2 tops collapse (bracket issues) and replaced by Ford. Apparently poorly designed frame/brackets from what the installer (not Ford) told me ... perhaps too thin/weak for the load).

I want to see if anyone else has experienced issues with their tops for that year (or even any year from2005-2008). Please give any feedback that you can ... this has developed into a huge problem. The last time it collapsed my 2 small grandkids were in the back seat, and now will not even ride in the car

My GT has been in the shop for the top(s) issue for 27 out of past 40 days. HELP!!

Johnny
