My fiance took her 2010 V6 Vert to the dealer for an oilchange. They wanted to hit her up $33 for air filter, and $89 for fuel filter.

The air filter, yeah, that you can see and I can change it for way less. He recommended changing the fuel filter as it has 15K miles. Is that normal? Can it be changed easily without the dealer?

90 dollars for a fuel filter?!!! My god, that's highway robbery. Just do it your self. Get a filter from autozone/napa or whatever for like $15, then get under the drivers side of the car and drop down that black plastic "pan" and unclip the old filter at the green tabs and put the new one in. Keep in mind this method will get a little bit of fuel everywhere, so have a pan or something to catch the fuel that comes out of the lines, but it shouldn't be too much.

If that's not clear, or you have any questions about the process, just ask. But for the love of god, don't let the dealership charge you that much for it.

I would do it yourself if possible and follow the guide posted above BUT if you do have to take it to a dealer $90 for parts and labor is probably about right when you figure in dealers charge 60-80 per hour for labor. Air filter like you mentioned can be done no problem

You don't need a fuel filter at 15K miles, simple as that...
Replace it at 30K miles and you'll be good.
They say every 24 months if you don't hit that mileage before that.
If you drive your car everyday, stick with the 30K miles.

BTW, American Muscle will sell you that filter (Motorcraft OEM) for $15.
Be careful of dealers, they're just as bad as lawyers...

When you're ready, buy your $15 filter and go see an independent mechanic if you don't want to do it yourself.
Not hard to replace though... It's under the car on the driver side if I recall.

I would follow these guys advice, they have it down. You can easily replace the fuel filer yourself for just the cost of the filter. Plus it's always good to know how to do your own maintenance work, so you can do it again and save yourself a few bucks. Like pascal already mentioned, you can pick up a new fuel filter from AM for $15 with free shipping!

+1 on DIY. And paying a dealer to replace an air filter is beyond insane. A 5 y/o can do it without tools.

Thanks all. The air filter is a no brainer. Still concerned about the fuel filter and doing it myself.. just worried about spilling any gas, thats all. but $89 is nuts. Can prob take it to any oil change place and get it done for half..we'll see

You 'll likely get about 1/4 cup, if that, to drip out but it's a good learning experience. I much rather do it than pay some shop.
