Default Mustang Reliability

ok, so we all love our new mustangs, yee-haa. i've never owned a ford before but have heard a lot of rumors about their shoddy reliability and what not - of course that didn't deter me from buying my mustang -which kicks *** and i'm in love with.

my question is what can we expect from these new generation mustangs? i know my 05 V6 has the same engine that the ford explorer has, which makes me happy because its an engine thats been around for a while so the kinks are definitely worked out, but what about the transmission, and all those other parts which are very expensive if and when they do break?

i know we all have our opinions, but if someone with actual technical experience with this car could chime in, it would be great to hear some facts on the issue.

thanks guys

Default RE: Mustang Reliability

Hi,

I will be picking up my 2006 Mustang next week, with a V6 manual. This will be my 9th Mustang. I can tell you they have always been great cars. My last 2 Mustangs had only oil changes and tire rotations, when I turned them in at 36,000 miles. The manual cars have a T5 based manual from the previous car, which is fine and the new 5 speed automatic is a really nice transmission. It is good enough to make people think twice about buying a manual equiped car.

I hace been into Mustangs for a long time, so if you have any questions I may be able to answer them for you. Just remember one thing, the 2005+ Mustangs are based of the Lincoln LS/Thunderbird platforms. You may want to look into those platforms for information, but the engine and driveline are not the same. One benefit of the new chassis, is the fit and finish and ride.

Hope this helps!
