Default New Dyno Report from Alternative Auto

Greetings Everyone,

I was able to schedule a test and tune at Alternative Auto this weekend. My car is a 2006 V6 manual transmission Mustang. I have listed the performance gains below, beware of big horsepower claims!

Stock from Dealer - 183rwhp & 213rwtq
Alternative Auto Tune (SCT)- 187rwhp & 217rwtq
C&L Cold Air Intake System (SCT tune)- 194rwhp & 223rwtq
JBA Muffler - 197rwhp & 225rwtq

I am looking to add the underdrive pulley from ASP, Synthetics from Royal Purple and a lightweigth driveshaft. My goal was around 210rwhp and 240rwtq. I am planing on the Synthetic oil change in the Engine/Transmission/Axle very soon. I also have plans for a 4.10 ring & pinion in early Feb., and maybe the ASP pulley. We will have to see how much funds are in my wallet at that time. I hope this helps everyone make their decisions, but with all the dyno time and parts I have spent about $1000. That's alot for the power gains acheived, I think. These are real numbers, this is all on 89 octane fuel.

If anyone is interested in any of these parts or tunes, please call Lidio at Alternative Auto (586)463-0010 and mention Andre sent you. He is really fair with pricing, and will make sure you are happy when you leave. I will post more numbers, when I have additional items installed.

Thanks, Andre

Happy New Year 2006!

Heard you were heading to Lidio's... LOL! I was there last Thursday... Your number all look good... except I would have though you would have picked up more with the JBA muffler... With the single Magaflow I picked up around 10RWHP. Maybe' it's Magnaflow's "straight thru" design?

Hmmmm.... Honestly I think I would hold off on the ASP crank pulley... Check this thread:

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=41791

Doug seen only a 4RWHP gain... far short of the 12 they claim... LOL! While we didn't do back to back testing.... ummm... my car was at 193RWHP a couple of weeks ago... we installed the ASP pulley last Thursday... and I'm still at 193RWHP... hmmmm... We seen a 3 to 5 RWHP gain with the Alternator pulley from PHP... and it was only $159 (plus shipping)

One of these days we'll have to hook up! LOL!

Thank you for posting that!!! Cause I have a manual!!! 180HP stock is good! I have not had my car tuned or dyno'd yet but I was only thinking & expecting 165 - 170 at the rear wheel for manual's V6's off of the lot. I will be so happy if I can just get my car to 200 HP, I would be happy with 197 Hp. Now Im looking forward to getting my gears, tlok, and tune lol and I'll be running 91 Octane !!!!

Very very impressive numbers, you'll break 200 for sure and with a power adder, your car will be kick ***. Wow, I'm impressed, looks like lideo did it again!

question... i dont mean to be ignorant but this forum is here to help people out and for better under standing...

our v6 is supposed to have 210hp stock, correct? my question is how come when u guys dyno or whatever u dont get the 210... u get a lot lower like the 180 mentioned in the last post or whatever... where do they get the 210 number from and i just need an explanation i guess becuase im tired of being ignorant.

Another question... whats the difference between horsepower from to the wheels compared to at the flywheel or whatever. i always wondered.

thanks,
tom

i think that the 210 is power off the flywheel

i believe that when measured off the flywheel, nothing else that sucks power is taken into account (tranny, air con, etc)
...i really am not too sure about this though

the power found at the wheels is what you will actually be feeling when driving

Correct. Car manufacturers measure the power at the flywheel, but there is actual power lost to the wheels also called drivetrain power loss. For example, the 300HP GT is closer to 260RWHP which is power to the ground. Imports used to be known for inflating thier flywheel power numbers, though I do not know if this is still the case. While ford used to underrate sometimes.

Hope this helps.

You don't need to run premium fuel with normal modifications. All my numbers are with 89 octane fuel. We tried 94 octane fuel and advancing the timing, with no dyno gains. I think it was slightly stronger on the bottom with 2 degrees more timing than I have now, but it doesn't detonate anywhere. We had a wideband O2 sensor hooked up and kept the air/fuel ratio between 12.2-12.9 to 1.

Anyone can put high octane fuel in a vehicle and advance the timing to get power, but what happens when your not on the dyno? This is a game the aftermarket plays. Don't be fooled by the C&L 15hp claims and the ASP 12hp claims, because they are BS!

I will be adding some more mods over the next few months, and be posting results for everyone to see. With all the bolt-ons and a good tune, I think 225rwhp and 240rwtq are possible. In order to acheive this, you will spend close to $3,000 on parts. You may be better-off to install nitrous or supercharger, and have 280rwhp and 300rwtq for the same money.

Look forward to sharing information with you all!

P.S.- I will be installing a few items, and need other peoples feedback if they have installed any of these items! I'll share my data, if you share yours!

1. 4.10 gears and T-Lok
2. ASP Pulley (already heard from screamingyellow)
3. JBA shorty headers
4. Amsoil/Royal Purple/Redline synthetics oils
5. Aluminum or Carbon driveshaft
6. Steeda Ultra-Lite Wheels
