Default tlok in the winter

Aside from the obvious benefit of no more 1-wheel burnouts, do you think that adding a limited slip differential would improve winter driving? (trying to add justification....)

Also, if I get a tlok, and leave in the stock gears, I shouldn't need a tune right?

Anyone on these forums from the Twin Cities area, and do you know of a good shop around here to do modifications?

Thanks,

Dana

Why would you need a tune for changing the rear end differential?

Why on God's green earth would you change the dif and not the gears? Wake that puppy up!
And no, you don't need a tuner if you just have the T-Lok installed.

I was just thinking about the gas mileage since this is a daily driver....

But if I do change the gears at the same time, I will need a tune right?

If you just change the gear ratio and nothing else then a "tune" would not be necessary for performance purposes. You're spedo will be off though. One of the advantages of tuners such as the X-Cal2 is the ablility to program in for your new gear ratio thereby correcting how your spedo reads.

Not everyone that wants a t-lok also wants to change to taller gears. Many have done this and been really happy. If you already love the way your car drives, keep the stock gears... it's fine. Many do both mods at the same time since it saves on install costs.

For just a t-lok, you won't need a tune. If you go with gears, the tune will be used to recalibrate your speedo. The tune (like with an X-cal) also helps with a number of other things that really wakes up your car.

After my gear change, I really haven't noticed a big change in mileage yet (only on a couple tanks though). RPM's have raised a couple hundred.

A t-lok is an excellent mod! You'll love the extra solid take-offs... and, no one wheeled burnouts! Good luck! Let us know what you decide!
