Default hey everyone, few questions

okay so i'm looking to make a purchase this friday. i don't have a lot of details about the car, it's blue 05 v6 manual. msrp is 20k. i'm looking to push it down to invoice + 500 and also trade in my 98 f150. would be nice to get it at 15k. anyways i was wondering if yall think i can make this happen? geico says $200 a month for full coverage...i'm 21, single male(sounds like a dating post [&:] ) and i have an accident under my belt. seems low but they are standing by it. i'm starting the paper work tomorrow so i'll get some more info on the car here. and how is the clutch on these new mustangs, the last manual i had i burnt the clutch up in 2 years, though it was a nissan pickup. anyways thanks for the feed back!

I had the same set-up. I had a 98 F-150 lariat with mods such as wheels/tires, sound system etc. (which dealers don't care about) with about 77000 miles on it and my dealer would have given me $7500 for it. I ended up selling it on the street with the help of autotrader (which I recommend if you think it will sell in your area) for $10000, I could have gotten more but I wanted to sell it fast. Ended up financing about $12000 after tax etc. My dealer would have given me what kelly blue book says you should expect with a dealer trade in, I would go to their site kbb.com and talk with your dealer from there.

I'm not much older than you but I pay Geico closer to $150 a month -- maybe it's that accident you had. At least you're saving money by going with the V6 rather than the GT.

Good luck getting the purchase price down. It might be a little easier because it's an '05, but I know when I bought my '06, the dealers I talked to were pretty firm on the sticker price for '05 and '06 models. If you have a competing offer from another dealer you might have a little more leverage.

Did you graduate from college recently? I was able to score a $500 rebate from Ford through their web site. I think you have to be a current college student or have graduated within the last three years or so. The dealership gave me an extra $500 off sticker as well, but that was the best I could do.

Nice choice on the manual transmission; I can't believe that about 90% of the '05+ V6 models are automatics! I guess they figure that you'll buy a GT if you really love to drive -- though I think this forum proves otherwise, whether stick or not! I haven't had any problems with the clutch, but then again, I've only had the car for about 4 months.

Hope the purchase goes well!
Tim

Yeah, my dealer told me when I bought my '06 that Ford doesn't let the dealers go below sticker price (which is what I got mine for). HMMMM.....Ford controlls the dealers (which im sure they do in onw eay or another) .

Good luck with ur purchase. U will be very happy!

Got mine on the X-plan because I was a recent Purdue grad (go Boliers!) I think I saved about $2400 total.

Also,
One of the biggest factors in insurance is location. Not just area of the country, but city/suburbs/country is taken into account too. I'm 23, not married, no accidents, 1 fairly decent ([sm=badbadbad.gif]) speeding ticket, mine's $150/month full coverage with a $500 deductable. The deductable you have makes a big difference too. I could have saved a good amount going to a $1000 deductable, or paid a lot more for a $250 deductable.

If you work for an employer who is eligable for x-plan pricing, then you should be able to get a v6 stang for x-plan price. The dealership doesn't have to honor it though, but all the dealers in my area were. GT's however are selling for full sticker or more! You will save $2000 or more off of MSRP and if you can find a left over '05 , Ford has low financing options on them also. Come to think of it, dealers by me were giving x-plan on leftover '05 GT's as well! Of course that started a few weeks after I already bought my v6 mustang, just my luck!
