Noob question - besides stance, what does lowering a car do for it? Does it help the handling and wind resistance?

I'm actually thinking about buying some of these

but not sure how they would look since i've never actually seen them on a car. I have a 05 White convertible with black top.

I like the black wheels you have a lot as well.

lowering it really helps the handling of it, as far as aerodynamic wise, you dont see any gains.
