Cali Tint Laws
I will be in SoCal (San Diego) in the next couple of months and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are laws regarding window tint, what they are, and are they enforced? Any response is appreciated.

RE: Cali Tint Laws
^^^that information is wrong
You are not allowed to have any tint at all on your windshield (visor is ok), and you are not allowed to have anything at all on your front door windows. you are not even legal in CA if you have a clear UV film on your front windows. They don't really enforce it unless you get pulled over for something else. If you do get pulled over, lower you windows right away.
rear windows / doors you can have limo.

RE: Cali Tint Laws
then I got the wrong info when i got my tint. I also live in CA. I've been in a car when my friend got a ticket for light tint on their front doors.
from the same site:
" These laws may not be current and are often enforced differently by different PD's. In all cases, refer to you local authority for enforcement policies, current laws, rules or regulations. Your current state law is the final authority, not this website! "
I'm not trying to call you a jackass, I'm just saying that the law you posted was out of date or wrong.

RE: Cali Tint Laws
we are just talking about the driver and passenger sides right... the 4 inches for the visor is legal, they specifically put that line on windshield for a reason.. i called my friend that owns the tinting shop, he told me that lots of places sell the uv protectant tint which i 70 percent for side windows and it is illegal because of it being tinted but its so unnoticable that police either do not care or can not tell.. the first thing he told me is that law has changed and they have got more strict on it. i have limo tint on my mustang all the way around and i have yet to be pulled over and they have seen me plenty of times. on the other hand i have 50 percent on my chicks car and have been pulled over twice, this is a wierd state.. [&:] so anyways you were right about the side windows and i give you props for that due to being told the wrong info about it, not from that site..

RE: Cali Tint Laws
that seems like its the best and only way to do it.. i should start rolling down the windows, especially when its costing me 70. to get them retinted each time plus the 10. fix it ticket. my chicks car must be more of a cop magnet than my car... hmmmm...
