snapped lug stud
I dont know if anyone here can help but its worth a shot, today i was switching my summer wheels for my winter ones and in the process i snapped off my rear driverside lug stud, and was wondering if anyone knows about fixing this problem. Someone said i could just buy the lug stud itself and pop the snapped one out. Anyone know?
If its like every other wheel that I`ve had, all you have to do is use a punch & hammer the broken stud out from front to back. You can then get a new stud either from the dealer or from an auto parts store. All you have to do is slip the new stud into the hole from the rear, & when you tighten up the lug nuts the nut will pull the stud tight
yup.. just disassemble the brakes on that wheel, right down to the axle... take a hammer and give the broken stud a whack. it should pop out. then put the new stud in from behind, slide the rotor back on and thread the lug nut down until its against the rotor, then tighten it up until the stud seats
