88 Fox Rims and Tire Selection
New owner here, and first post in these hollowed forums, so be gentile
Currently the car is bone stock with 4-lug 15' turbine rims, and P205 60R 15 all around.
I am making the 4to 5-lug swap, and need a little direction on wheel/tire sizing.
I would prefer an 18" wheel, but am not prepared to make any changes to the stock suspension or chassis at this time. I'm looking to fill the wheel well, but not protrude outwards, and I'd like to avoid rubbing or 'massaging' the tires on the car. Of course, I am looking for the widest possible wheels/tires for the rear, and something that won't kill my turn radius up front. Is this possible to do with 18s? I'm not completely hardheaded about wheel and tire size, but am interested in knowing the rule of thumb and some opinions.
In the future, I plan to upgrade suspension and braking to somthing more road worthy than stock, but till then, it will just be wheels.
I would also be intersted in people'srecommendation for offset so I get it right []
thx
EDIT: btw, it's a GT Hatchback

RE: 88 Fox Rims and Tire Selection
So, using this tire size calc ( http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) I should be able to pick the right tire without screwing up the speedo.
Guess my questions would change to this:
On an 88 without suspension mods and the exhaust ending just b4 the rear axle, can I fit 18 x 9 all around with 245/40/18 and clear the suspension and fenders/wells? Or am I looking at having to put 18 x 8 up front and 18 x 9 out back?
The more I read the more I'm confused tbfh.
thx
