Default Winter Tires

I know it is only July, but I plan on buying some winter tires for my 03 V6 and figured I'd get all the info now. Does anyone have any recommendations/experience? Also, some say you only need to put winter tires on the rear wheels. Is this true or is it best to replace all four with winter tires. Thanks in advance.

Its best to do all 4. Its MORE important to be able to stop. On FWD cars you can get away with doing just the fronts, simply because you steer with the drive wheels and the front wheels provide 80% of your braking, thats true for both FWD and RWD.

It is always best to have 4 snow tires on the vehicle. Front wheel drive cars with snows on the front increases your risk of oversteer.

A vehicle will feel disjointed when mixing snows with non snows when you stop or abruptly turn.

Thanks for the advice Colin. Can you tell me what the most proven winter tire is for the 99-04 Mustangs? And for reference, do prices increase on winter tires as the season approaches? Would I be better off to purchse them in the near future and just store them for a few months?
