Foose Nitrous wheel questions.
After debating if I should get chrome or polished I ended up with chrome. I ended up buying some foose nitrouse. They told me that they are very delicate since it has a rolled lip. Also they told me that they had some issues with not balanceing right. For those of you who have these rims have you had any problems with them? Or does anybody know of any experience from them. Thanks any info would be great. I ordered them and they should arrive by next thursday. So if they are bad I will change them for another style. I am going to ask the tech before he mounts the tire if it is true that they are hard to balance I don't want a tire that will woble specially if I paid some good money for it. Oh and for tires I got falken. Any body know about these? thanks.
Foose are generally very high quality wheels as his name is good and wants to keep it that way. Who says they have balance issues and were delicate?, Foose? If so, that would not be a very good selling point in my book.
As per earlier discussion, chrome is somewhat delicate due to likely eventual chipping/corrosion of finish. I find it hard to believe that Foose wheels would be an issue with quality, but would be a good idea to ask the tire shoppe to 'spin' the wheel up and check for balance on all four, if you are concerned. May cost you a little extra as wheels will have to ALL be checked and re-installed a second time to mount tires. I also recommend getting full chrome stems installed as the rubber onescan sometimes flex and the chrome capcan come into contact with face of wheel and scratch. Supposedly upon launching, this has occured to some.
I just got my Summer wheels/tires installed and have done this along with wheel weights on the inside, of course. The all chrome stems look really cool and are very short so they wont stab me when cleaning the wheels at wash time as well *insert smiley here as it is not working at the moment*

Thanks Jazzer, I am going to take your advice and tell them to check them before they mount the tire. I was also surprise to hear that they had issues with the wheel. I would think that they would be good quality for the name they cary.
Mine are fine (I have 20 inch Nitrous in chrome) as far as balance goes. THe chrome was impecable on htem as far as I can find. There are guys on the forum with a lot of miles on these rims with the chrome and havent had any issues. As long as you keep them clean they will last a long time I am sure. Also, dont let your buddies drive the car and catch a curb, as you are WAYYY more likely to do damage like that than it being an issue with the chrome.
As far as the valve stem, they do not come out on the front side of the rim like a standard wheel, htey are located behind the face of the wheel in the center and htey also have one in the back, but none are on the face.....look at some pics of foose wheels and you will see they have no valve stems...LOLOL
Here is a hi res pic so you can see what I mean....on the front tire you will see a bit of the valve stem at 12 o clock and on hte rear its around 3 oclock....well behind the chrome...

Ohh yeah...make sure you order a gorilla thin walled 13/16th deep socket as a regular socket will not fit....not even teh special sockets you get from Summit with the ceramic coating specifically for wheels....they all wouldnt fit without hitting the chrome, so you need that thin wall socket in order to get them on.

thanks RedRider, where could I find or order a gorilla thin walled 13/16th deep socket? Dam like the way your car looks now that I see them on your car I like them more and more. What size do you have? I'm getting 17x8 and 18x8.5 hopefully they come in tomorrow or Thursday, can't wait to see them on my car!
oh yeah I saw the valvestem.

Good stuff, Red [sm=smiley20.gif]
As far as ***Gorilla lug-nuts***, I have purchased a full-set of locking lugs (24) from Amazon.
These are ALL locking and come with a special thin-wall lug wrench as Saleen has the same issue of small hole in wheels. The 'locking' pattern are grooves on the sides of the lugs, not the front (race-track style) so they don't slip off when torquing. The wrench is VERY strong and recommend buying an extra wrench ($15 so you have a back-up) and a set of 24 rather than 20 lugs. It will be like $20 more for extra lugs, but nice to have extras.
HIGHLY recommend them as I have been using them for over 20 years and wheels are EXTREMELY difficult to remove without wrench. It would be next to impossible to steel them on the side of the road. You cannot even get one of those Sears sockets to remove them as it will not fit into wheels. The nice thing about having ALL your lugs locking (as opposed to old-skool one lug only), is security. If someone was to jack up your car and remove the 4 non-locking lugs, the wheel could be 'yanked' sideways and lug-bolt could break and your wheel would ge gone.

Thanks Jazzer I went to there website but couldn't figure out how to order some, I just remembered when they ordered the rims they charged me for some wheel set lugnuts. Don't think it would be some locking style. Good news is that the rims and tires already came in but the bad news is that I can't go pick them up till Sat. I'm going to stop tomorrow before work to find out what kind of lugnuts they oredered.
This is the one I am thiinking of ordering...

Looks like ***THESE***, but best to contact the company via web-page as they are very helpful. They will not sell you direct, but can give you the part info and numbers.
