Unhappy Is this normal?

Hey guys. I bought 19" AXIS "Shine" wheels. They have only been on the car for a year and on the surface of the dish (or lip??) of both rear wheels there are little scratch/dents. Is this to be expected of wheels that have a "deep dish"? I payed $400 for each rear wheel, and $380 for the front wheels and in my opinion, this is unacceptable. What's really unacceptable is a couple lug nuts with rust on them. I just want to get opinions on this. Thanks guys.

I don't see how scratches could be on wheel unless you have hit curbs, do you have any pics? How much wheel protection do you have by way of tire beyond wheel face?

As for dents, you may have hit some major expansion joints or hard dips in the road. Do you run very low-profile tires? I run up and down the California Pacific Coast HWY 1 regularly and know of approx. 20 MAJOR bumps and have to slow down to 10 MPH or slower to pass over to avoid possible damage to wheels.

As for rusted lugs, go ***Gorilla lug nuts*** and you will not only have WONDERFUL security for your wheels/tires, but have never seen them rust in 20 years of using them. If you do go Gorilla, get a set of 24 lugs and an extra wrench as well for back-ups.

I agree with Jazzer he knows his wheels/tires. Your nearest Discount Tire/American Tire can get you a set of gorilla locks whick are the best in most cases. depending on where the scratches are, in most cases that is the drivers fault. If it was something like the chrome/paint chipping that's different.
And try getting tires with a rim protector, that will help you

Default Deep Dish Wheels

On exteme Deep Dish wheels the dish area could be a problem if the clear is not put on properly. Often a new tech (if done manually) shoots the wheel straight on and does not get enough clearcoat on the lip, this can cause scratching or clearcoat problems.

it sounds as though your wheels are starting to pit in the lip which is undoable i would suggest getting mother power ball and putting wax on them and buffing them and that will help protect but you will always see them there uness you get new wheels
