Default we have a problem

ok so a little while ago i just bought these rims they are 275 40 18s.... now when im driving everytime i try to make a u turn i hear horrible rubbing... and when im going up a hill i hear a noise and the whole car vibrates... what seems to be the problem? is it that those 275s are too big for the front? if so would it be possible to put a 255 tire on the rim? or do i have to completely get rid of the front 2 rims and tires and buy new ones? let me know...

EDIT: here is a pic of them

275's are not too big for front, but probably an off-set issue. Does your tire/rim have any visible damage? If so, where exactly? I would think so as you hear rubbing. As for vibration, this may be a balance issue.

What is the width of wheel you are running and do you have a link to the exact wheel you purchased?

PS...... you need a new sig

i purchased the wheel second hand from someone off of craigslist, it didnt really have the wheel width on there... nope there are no visible damage done to the tires or the rims, what do u mean by an off set issue?? also i balanced them as soon as i purchased them

Go ***HERE*** to see how it relates to your ride. Can you give us ALL three sets of numbers on tire and a couple of pics from different angles?

good link JAZZER. i just can't see 275s fitting up front. i believe thats about the widest you can go in the rear w/o rubbing.

92, I am referring to the OP's New Edge. A 275 is REALLY pushing the Fox Body, but can be done, I am told. I think 88Mach1 is running a 275 up front, but not positive.

Either way 92, get your own thread, I'm workin' with echarlemagne

as far as different angles are concerned I can't unmount it but I'll take it from different angles mounted, all 4 tires are 275 40 18

275/40/18" is not a problem at ANY corner of a New Edge, provided the proper off-set.

Pics will be good. Please give us down side, straight on and specifically around edge of tire as it may be hitting fender or inner liner.

I have 265/35-18 on front of my SN95 and they don't rub at all! but I was also told that any bigger would rub up front for my year. 275/35-18 don't rub at all for your year so it might just be yours are a little too tall! on my rears I have 285/35-18 and was told that I can go all the way up to 315+ and still have room. on all your tires if you get new ones I would get a 35 side wall which will give you a lower pro tire!

if your rims are like mine (as most replicas are) then your rim should be a 18"x9" (x10" for deep dish) with +24mm offset (+22mm for deep dish)

You can get more than that, actually. I run 295/30/18"s on 10"s & 315/30/18"s on 11"s on my ride and on nearly a 2" drop.

You would be surprised how much room is under there.
