Default TPMS Training

Quick question about TPMS training. I found the training doc online (204-04-1), and I purchased the tool (Motorcraft TPMS-19 Transmitter). My purchased wheels are stock 17s (mine came with 18s) and the overall diameter is the same. I have an SCT Tuner. I purchased used TPMS sensors online and had them installed when the winter tires were put on the rims.

1. I assume these things are powered by the wheel moving, will I need to drive the car around a bit to wake up the new sensors so they have power for the activation?

2. The last step of the instructions suggests using a scan tool to get the new sensor IDs, and to clear any DTC C2780, cause the SJB to exit the manufacturing mode and make sure there are no other concerns with a newly programmed SJB. I don't plan on recording the new sensor IDs, and I'm not installing a new SJB, do I need to do this step? Can my SCT tuner read and clear DTCs (I've not used the function before)? I'm assuming once I've programmed the new sensors, any trouble codes would clear themselves?

3. Any other tricks, tips or common problems I should be aware of?

Thanks!

I would hate to think my TMPS is sleeping on the job

What if I had low tire pressure and was out cruisin' the highways at 125 MPH and my TMPS was out partying all night and crashed out?

..... do you think the judge would buy my ride has TMPS syndrome

Jazzer...... speculating

Lol, centrifugal force wakes it up, so just a block or so of driving.

Just to follow up my own thread, in case of future searches.

My TPMS sensors woke right up, and when I was finished the DIC said programming complete. The car was never actually run without TPMS sensors. It really is just as easy as the instructions make it out to be... So far anyway.
