Default What backspacing do I need?

I didn't find my answer in the search. I want to do a five lug conversion on my 89 using Ranger axles and install 15X8 stock car style wheels. What backspacing do I need and what would be a good tire size? I would rather use the same size front and rear so I can rotate them. Thanks.

Can you compare the new axles to the orginal ones? This will tell you how much longer/shorter they are and can go from there.

I can tell you that an 16"x8" wheel for an '89 Mustang has a +15mm off-set at 5.1" back-space, as per commonly made aftermarket wheels. If your new axles are 1/2" longer, you will need approx. +28mm off-set in a 16"x8" wheel to fit in the exact same location as the +15mm one.

Hope that helps

25.6mm = 1"

Thanks for the reply. The axles will be the same width, just 5 lug rather than 4.
