Default cobra r's on a fox body...

im planning on putting 18x9 cobra r replicas from mr.bodykit on 225/40/18 on my wifes 87 gt vert, will i have any rubbing issues at all? i also would like to do eibach springs to close in the gap, my main concern is rubbing as she will be driving this car not me and i dont want her to have to drive it a certain way, i want her to be able to just jump in and go and not worry about anything...any info is greatly appreciated, i just want to find out as much as i can before i buy the wheels.but i do know i want to run a 18 inch wheel...

Boy.... a 225 on a 9" wheel is gonna be VERY thin looking and such a tire is barely even rated to fit that wheel. This will make the car really responsive to the turn of the wheel (turn-in response) and can make a driver a bit uneasy at times as the tires sidewalls will be soo tight, the front wheels will respond to minimal input and turn farther than you may expect.

As for rubbing, this depends on the off-set/back-space of the wheel. For an 18"x9" wheel on a Fox, you will need +18mm or 5.75" back-space, give or take a VERY small amount to avoid rubbing.

ive got 18x9 budniks on my nissan with a 225/40/18 and its fine, i think she will be ok, i ask about the rubbing cuz i had read they were having issues with the wheel rubbing the shock or strut in the front and the lower arm when turning, i can cut and weld i just dont really want to get that far into the car just for some wheels to fit...ill cut up a truck or any other car any day she and i both just want to the minimal to this, no performance stuff at all really, just nice wheels, slight drop and paint, otherwise stock...

I ran 17 x 9" Cobra R's on my 1991 Mustang GT.... I agree with Jazzzzzzzzzzzzer, 225's are a small tire on a 9" wheel!!

FYI: I ran 245's up front & 275's out back...

Yeah, on a 9" rim, I'd go 255 or wider.
