Default 4.5" vs. 4.25" Bolt Pattern????

HELP!!?? I have some ugly after market 14" wheels on my '66 coupe. I'd like to put some stock wheels back on. Everything I read says the bolt pattern is 14" x 4.5". When I measure the stud pattern, it is clearly 4.25" center to center. Can anyone comment on what I read as Ford "Standard" 14 x 4.5" bolt pattern vs an actual 4.25" measurement? How is a correct measurement taken? I don't want to buy wheels somewhere and end up spending a bunch of money and end up with wheels that don't fit.

Thanks.

The bolt pattern is not always measured center to center

***HERE*** is a website with how to measure the different wheels:

Hopefully this helps
