Question Replacing rivets and powder coating

So I'm looking to purchase the 18" Bullitt Motorsport wheels but I want them in black chrome and no one sells that size and finish so I'm going to get them powder coated. The only trouble is the rivets.

Does anyone have any knowledge if they're removable or have done so in the past that can provide some knowledge?

I was reading on some import car forums that the rivets on their aftermarket wheels were plastic and removable with a heat gun. When I contacted AM they said they SHOULD be made out of aluminum but didn't give me any definitive.

I was really hoping I could just buy replacements, remove them, powder coat the wheel, and then add them back.

I need advice on getting these done right.

I would not count on them being removable and if they are, they probably wont go back in place well Why are the rivits a problem with PC?

The powder coater said if they're plastic they will melt. I also noticed they're chrome, and not black chrome.. so when he paints the wheel I want to keep them chrome so they stand out. I've been at it a few days trying to find a solution. I'm assuming they're aluminum and if so it's too bad they can't just be protected from the paint instead of being removed.

Keep researching, but I am willing to bet that they cannot be removed/re-installed without damage or easily falling out while driving. If you can do this, you will need to do it 4 times

I didn't want to compromise on the 18s, nor the staggered look, nor the wheel, so I kept researching and eventually decided to stop looking for mustangs and looked up other cars with similar wheels. Well, I found a chrysler forum that directed me to a shop that can remove rivets, powder coat, and even keep/add a polished lip! I'm waiting to hear back on a price so I can get my local powder coater to match it and I'll be a happy camper. If locally he can't do it I'll just ship them to the place I found in Jersey and have them do it. Small price to pay for perfection!

those rivets are purely decoration and can be removed but, you will need news ones to install after the powdercoat is finished .. .give me a call if you can't find them locally
