Default Tire Opinions Needed

Hi,
I’m looking for some opinions on which tires would be a better choice for summer traction. I’m looking at going one of two ways - either a staggered setup with 275/40-19 Pirelli PZero Nero out back or a 255/45-19 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric all around.

I know the Pirelli would have a wider contact patch since it’s around 10.83 wide, but I wonder if the summer only F1 would be as good or better even though it’s about 3/4" narrower.

Any opinions greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

Tires should be chosen by the needs of the driver and decided by the budget... what are they?

Is this a DD only? DD with some 1/4 mile use? DD with LOTS of 1/4 mile use? DD with some twisties? DD with RIPPIN' DA CORNERS WITH ABSOLUTE PRECISION APPROACHING THE PURSUITE OF THE PERFECT LINE WITH COMPLETE LAZER-LIKE FOCUS OF BODY AND MIND?

Will these tires see snow? ice? lots of rain?

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

It is my DD and I'm willing to go up to about $250 a tire. It may see limited 1/4 mile use just for fun, but mainly spirited daily driving. No road racing but who doesn't like to push it a little in the curves? I would choose traction for straight line acceleration over curves, if I had to choose just one.

No snow, going to put dedicated winter tires on the stock rims, and only as much rain as Mother Nature drops on me.

Thanks.

I run the F1 Supercars, which is an identical tread to the Asymmetric, I dont think you can go wrong. The Pirelli's might give you a little more tread life, but the fact you cannot rotate, might negate that.

I think the Pzero Nero are a crap performance tire, so I would recommend you not run those, if you're looking for ANY kind of dry grip Keep in mind, that straight-line grip and lateral grip, are offered by different tires, but like the Nitto 555R's for a bit of compromise in both. I am not sure you would find them in the $250 range, but depends on the sizes you want to run.

NP, just wish more people chimed in. Sometimes more input, the better.

right now the big dawg is the Pilot Super Sport from Michelin as it offers great performance and ride quality, as well as, a fantastic warranty.... it may fit into your budget depending on what size you need
