The demand for new Mustangs in Australia has forced the guys at Ford to beef up the number of pony cars to be shipped Down Under.

Make that an extra 2,000 Mustangs for the 2017 model year, to be exact. Evidently, Ford’s order bank got hit with requests for 6,000 of the 2017 S550s, which was 25% higher than the carmaker initially predicted, according to a Car Advice report.

Although, it shouldn’t really come as a big surprise, considering that all the 2016 Mustangs built for Australia were sold before the car even hit the road. In fact, the Ford pony car currently ranks as Australia’s best-selling car. And with news that the 2017 model will come standard with Ford’s new SYNC system, we expect the Mustang’s popularity to grow even more in Australia.

The most popular model in Aussie? The GT V8, of course.
