Default 2010 Mustang Flowmaster Install Question

Hey,

I received my Flowmaster American Thunder Classics yesterday and went to have them installed today. Two hours later and they couldn't get them installed. There went $60. Well I figured the guys were just idiots. So I came home and started the install myself as I have installed many exhausts before. I also figured if I could get them on I could always go and have them welded in after the fact. Well now I see the problem. I can not get the hangers to line up. The hanger closest to the rear bumper is off by an inch. That is even when you hold the muffler in place for ideal alignment. If anyone has installed these on their 2010 please let me know if there are any tricks. I called Brenspeed and Chandler said you have to make them fit but they do fit. He offered a refund but all I want is the exhaust on the car. Thanks guys!

Not trying to insult you, but have you looked on the flowmaster website and read their downloadable instructions? Also you might try Youtube as well. There are tons of installs and exhaust sound deals on it. Lastly I would call around to shops that specialize in exhausts.....there has to be a trick to it.

If it came with brackets make sure they're installed right. If not and the hangers can be bent to fit, bend 'em. (just don't break 'em lol)

Yes the hangers can be bent if its off a little. They could have been bent in shipping or packaging.

I forgot to add that to my original post but I followed the instructions provided by Flowmaster and still had the same problem. I am not a novice to exhaust installs but no offense taken 2011GT/CS. After messing with it for a little while I decided to call Flowmaster for the hell of it. They said that it is possible the hangers were welded in slightly wrong so I was asked to get some measurments. I did all that and now Flowmaster has a new set coming to me so no worries. They want the old set back to inspect. They think it is a manufacturing error because our measurements don't match. I know some people on the forum have had problems with Flowmaster customer service. However they were very nice and took care of me quickly. I should have the new mufflers by Monday.

i had those installed about a week ago and the brackets were totally off. i took it to an old school muffler shop thank goodness. they actually had to heat and bend the hangers on the muffler and cut about an inch or more off the tubes in the rear to get them to fit. Not sure what's up with that, but they most certainly were not bolt on items. I cant believe they made you pay when they were incapable of installing them. Honestly, i see they say they fit 05 up and i think someone at flowmaster simply didn't do their homework for the 10 and the fitment is just not right. The good news is tha sound f'in awesome.

i installed the same ones on our 10 gt, yes they fit like crap and take a little work.

I am throughly convinced that flowmaster took the prior year mufflers and just decided to use them cause if they would have actually put one on a 2010 it wouldnt be like it is but it does work.

If i remember right i had to cut or grind off a tab on the stock over axle pipe so the flowmaster would slide farther towards the front of the car. Then the front hanger gets on and it works. Pain to have to do it that way but it is either that or reweld the hangers on the flowmasters.

If you are running an off road H expect some trumpeting, i am exploring the ways to get rid of it now.

Glad you got some new ones on the way. I know you know this, but I was in no way trying to insult your intelligence. Please post how you like them when you get everything situated. I have had Flowmaster on 3 of my other Mustangs, but the 2011 seems to have a different sound. I am trying to decide between Borla, Flowmaster, or Corsa.
